The 'Other' Thing You May Not Know About Facebook

I’m annoyed.

A friend posted this link. It concerns the “Other” subfolder of your Facebook Messages folder. If you look on the left-hand navigation on your home page, you’ll see it. I’d never thought to read it because I always assumed it was just where event reminders go, and that’s what it’s meant to be. But the article encouraged me to look at it, and here’s what I’ve missed:

1. A message from a friend in September asking me about my life. Why did they block her? I have no idea.

2. A message from a girl I was pen pals with in elementary school when we both lived in San Diego and went to summer camp together. She found letters we wrote to each other and offered to scan them to me. She sent the message in August.

3. (and this is the worst) A message from a New York Times reporter who read my piece about the South Carolina primary and wanted to talk to me about it. WHAT IS THIS, FACEBOOK? I could’ve been quoted in The New York Times?? But now that’s not a possibility because the primary passed.

Not a happy camper at all. So, maybe you should take a look at your Other folder too. And if you reblog, what’d you miss?
