for those who can’t read my handwriting:
Things I thought I’d be:
• In a secure, high-paying job
• In a relationship
• Living in a spacious apartment in a big city
• about to travel the world
Things I am:
• Doing freelance work and waiting tables
• Living with my parents
• About to go to grad school
Life happens. And it’s fine.
YOU GUYS MY MOM KNOWS ACRONYMS.
As a postgrad-moved-back-home, or a “boomerang kid” as the media has coined us, there is plenty of parental entertainment (and teen-angst flashbacks) to go around.
I tried to explain to her later how hilarious this was, and that I was being a total sassy jerk with my reply. I think she gets it now.
I SAW BEACH HOUSE ON SUNDAY!
and boy, it was amazing. I hadn’t been a huge fan of them until my friends turned me on to them recently. And basically nagged me into buying a ticket (not to underrate my enthusiasm, because it was abundant). But this weekend wouldn’t have happened without them, which made me realize:
I need to always keep people in my life who are adventurous. And who will make me do things. Because I love to do things, but I’m the kind of person who needs validation and encouragement to go on an adventure.
Which is why I will marry an Aries.
I literally have no time to edit these today, but this one just turned out SO PERFECTLY I couldn’t resist.
Paulina is so great to work with. Gorgeous and totally uninhibited, it’s no wonder we got this shot.
So, as Tas and Malia mentioned, Wednesday was my birthday. And truthfully, it was awesome.
I went to a house show (the release of Strangers Magazine!) & gathered with friends at Pint Night to celebrate my 23rd year of birth, which I fondly call my Sweet Sixteen. Because I refuse to grow up.
For anyone who’s over 21, you’re well aware that birthdays from here on out are more like “oh fuck I’m growing up” rather that “OMG S’MY BIRTHDAYYY I’M GROWING UP”
You can already do everything legally you couldn’t do before, but now there’s this looming presence of adulthood and reality and…it’s just, not like it used to be.
I will say though, being the center of attention never gets old, and I’m sure that will be a consistent theme in my life.
Also, as you get older, you don’t…get presents. Above is what I received from my parents: A singing kitten card (they get me).
As Malia mentioned, yesterday was CKB’s birthday. Annnnnnd. Since I couldn’t be there to give an embarrassing toast in her honor, here are a few almost-embarrassing photos of our time together. Well, really just embarrassing for me. You just get to watch Caitlin’s rise in sophistication. Pay attention to the hair evolution!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CKB!!!!
I like to think that I’m the reason she’s so awesome. Why, you ask? Because I pushed her to start working at G&B magazine with me. A few months later girl gets herself a 3-year gig as photo editor. Score!
